The window and door installation specialty was created in rule 61G4-15.100, effective May 5, 2024. It is aimed at replacement window, door and shutter installers, and its trade exam is 50 questions.
What the license covers
Rule 61G4-15.100(1)(j) allows the contractor to "install, replace, adjust, repair, and service," in line with accepted engineering data or manufacturers' specifications:
- exterior windows and doors
- hurricane protection devices and shutters
- hardware in connection with them
The limit: work must "not affect structural changes, except the replacement of window bucks in retrofit."

Can I enlarge an opening for a bigger door? That would affect structure, which the rule excludes.

Answer: C. Under F.S. 489.119(2), an applicant who will contract as a business organization (partnership, corporation, business trust, or other legal entity) must apply to be the qualifying agent of that organization. An individual certificate does not carry over to an entity automatically.
